Perfect Weather and Bright Yellow Kayaks

Back when we were teenagers, Brenden and I talked and schemed about kayaking out in the San Juans.  Those plans never did materialize, but here about 15 years later, we finally got hold of a couple kayaks and paddled around the coast near Larrabee State Park.  It had been cloudy and even a little drizzly that morning, but as soon as we got down to the boat launch, the sun came out and warmed us up to about 70-something degrees.  It could not have been nicer.

Tan arms, pasty white shoulders.  Thank you, bicycling.

Brenden was obsessed with getting a picture of a seal that had been following us around.  Every time he pulled out his camera, though, the seal dove back underwater.  They're tricky, those seals.

Those are the San Juan Islands in the background.  We are no where near hard-core enough to paddle out to them.

I did managed to get Brenden and I in the same shot.

Huge thanks to John and Debbie for letting us use the boats.  This is where we stopped for lunch.  I'm pretty sure kayaks have just made their way back onto my list of toys-to-someday-own.

That looks awesome! I think I need to move back to Washington.

Beautiful! My parents love their kayaks. You should definitely get one some day.

Heaven, pure heaven. Wish you were closer - you could use our kayaks until Lance's arm gets better. They've been gathering dust for the last year and a half. Pretty sure if Larrabee was close by, I'd just go without Lance though. What a beautiful place.
