I went on a vacation a couple weeks ago. The first real, purely recreational, vacation-for-the-sake-of-vacation in a long time. I don't know why backpacking trips don't seem to count as vacation in my mind, but for some reason they don't. Maybe it's because they do not usually involve getting on an airplane. Maybe it's the bears. More likely it's that walking across mountain ranges with all your worldly possessions carried on your back is more survival than recreation. But, I digress...
I've been to Europe and Central America, but I had never seen my own country's capital (or capitol). For that matter, I had never seen any part of the U.S. East of Wyoming, which I decided is not right. So, I went East. I went to Washington, D.C. and Philadelphia and and had myself an American History themed vacation. Nerdy? Yes.
I was getting used to a new camera, so I don't think I took the best pictures ever, but here are a few of them anyway. I'll post more later.

I think your pictures are great. Can't wait to hear all about your trip!
I'm with Hales--these are gorgeous, but we need more. Are you sure you don't want to come up and do a slide show? I'll make cookies...
Fun! I haven't been east of Wyoming either. I really want to do a trip like you did and also a church history trip. Plus Eric served his mission in Baltimore, so I'd like to go there. Great pictures, I can't wait to see more!
